August 12, 2019

Industrial output fell 0.2% on an annual basis in June, contrasting May’s 0.2% increase. According to the Statistical Institute, June’s downturn reflected a contraction in manufacturing output, particularly in capital goods production.

On a seasonally- and working day-adjusted basis, industrial output fell 7.6% month-on-month in June (May: -2.0% month-on-month s.a.).

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial output to increase 2.2% in 2019, which is down 0.5 percentage points from last month’s estimate. The panel expects industrial output to increase 3.3% in 2020.
