Romania: Growth in industry accelerates in September
November 10, 2014
In September, industrial output rose 6.1% over the same month last year, which was up from the flat reading tallied in August and marked the highest result in three months. According to the National Institute of Statistics, September’s figure came as a result of an acceleration in manufacturing, which was partly offset by contractions in mining and quarrying as well as in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning.
On a month-on-month basis, industrial production rose 2.42%, which contrasted the 2.67% decrease recorded in August. Annual average growth in industrial production fell from 8.5% in August to 8.1% in September, which marked the lowest reading in five months.
