Romania: Growth in industrial production resumes in August
October 12, 2016
Industrial output expanded 5.3% in August from the same month last year, which was the fastest expansion in one year. It contrasted July’s 3.4% contraction, which had marked the lowest rate in almost seven years. According to the National Institute of Statistics, only the manufacturing component of the index grew, while the mining and quarrying component and that of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning contracted at a faster pace.
On a seasonally-adjusted month-on-month basis, industrial production slowed from July’s 0.7% expansion to a 0.5% increase in August. Meanwhile, annual average growth in industrial production inched down from 1.7% to 1.6%.
