Romania: Growth in industrial production eases in June
August 11, 2016
Industrial output rose 1.1% in June over the same month last year, coming in just below the revised 1.2% expansion tallied in May (previously reported: +1.5% year-on-year). According to the National Institute of Statistics, the slowdown chiefly reflected a contraction in mining and quarrying, which nullified the gains made in manufacturing.
On a seasonally-adjusted month-on-month basis, industrial production swung from May’s revised 4.2% contraction (previously reported: -4.0% mom) to a 2.0% expansion in June. Meanwhile, annual average growth in industrial production inched down from 2.4% to 2.3%.
