Romania: Economy slows but remains strong in Q3
November 15, 2016
In the third quarter, the Romanian economy expanded 4.4% over the same period of last year, according to preliminary data released on 15 November. The figure marked a slowdown from Q2’s strong 6.0% expansion and undershot market expectations of a 5.1% increase. Despite the deceleration in Q3, growth remains fairly robust and above trend.
On a quarter-on-quarter basis, GDP growth in Q3 slowed to 0.6%, down from Q2’s reading of 1.5% in seasonally-adjusted terms. The Statistical Office (INSSE) will release more detailed data on 6 December.
