January 28, 2016
The consumer confidence index rose from minus 11.8 points in December to minus 8.8 points in January, marking a multi-year high. According to the Statistical Institute, the increase in consumer confidence reflected improvements in all components of the index, with households’ view of the future general economic situation recording the most significant rise.
The economic climate indicator remained in optimistic territory, although it did deteriorate from December’s 0.7 points to an 11-month low of 0.6 points in January.
