The consumer confidence index increased from minus 26.6 points in August to minus 23.2 points in September, which marked the highest reading since October 2006. According to the statistical institute, the improvement in consumer confidence was driven by consumers’ expectations regarding the country’s economic situation and their perspectives on savings over the next year.

The economic climate indicator stabilized in September at August’s 0.7 figure, which had marked the highest level since July 2008. Consequently, the indicator remains in optimistic territory.
