Portugal: Consumer confidence decreases slightly while economic climate inches up in July
July 31, 2015
The consumer confidence index inched down from minus 18.4 points in June to minus 18.5 points in July. According to the Statistical Institute, the decrease in consumer confidence reflected households’ more pessimistic view of the general economic situation in the country over the next 12 months. However, households’ views on their savings perspectives, unemployment perspectives and their financial situation over the next 12 months improved in July.
The economic climate indicator remained in optimistic territory and inched up from 1.3 in June to 1.4 in July, which marked the highest print since May 2008.
