Portugal: Consumer confidence and economic climate improve in June
June 29, 2015
The consumer confidence index inched up from minus 20.2 points in May to minus 18.4 points in June, marking a three-month high. According to the Statistical Institute, the increase in consumer confidence reflected a significant improvement in households’ view of the general economic situation in the country over the next 12 months. However, households’ views on their savings perspectives, unemployment perspectives and their financial situation over the next 12 months deteriorated in June.
The economic climate indicator remained in optimistic territory and inched up from 1.1 in May to 1.3 in June, which marked the highest print since May 2008.
