Poland: Retail sales record slowest growth since February in October

November 24, 2022

Retail sales grew 18.3% in year-on-year terms in October, which followed September's 21.9% increase. The result marked the worst reading since February. The result came on the back of a sharpdrop in motor vehicles, motorcycles and parts sales. In addition, furniture, radio, tv and household appliances sales contracted markedly.

Meanwhile, annual average retail sales growth rose to 21.1% in October (September: +20.8%). This signals an improving trend in the retail trade sector.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists see private consumption growing 4.3% in 2023, which is from last month’s forecast. For 2024, the panel sees private consumption expanding 3.0%.
