Poland: Retail sales growth accelerates in February

March 17, 2016

In February, retail sales rose 3.9% over the same month last year, which was above January’s 0.9% increase. The reading overshot the 3.3% rise that markets analysts had expected. The acceleration came on the back of better performance compared to last month in seven of the nine categories that comprise the index, with motor vehicles and parts improving notably.

Annual average growth in retail sales rose from January’s 1.4% to 1.8% in February, which marked an almost-one-year high.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists see private consumption growing 3.3% in 2016, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2017, the panel also sees private consumption expanding 3.3%.
