Poland: Retail sales growth accelerates in December
January 22, 2016
In December, retail sales rose 4.9% over the same month last year, which was above November’s 3.3% increase and marked the strongest increase since April 2014. The reading overshot the 3.5% rise that markets had expected. The acceleration came on the back of better performances in six of the nine categories that comprise the index, compared to last month, with newspapers and books as well as household appliances recording the most significant improvement.
As a consequence, annual average growth in retail sales inched up from November’s 1.1% to 1.3% in December, which marked a nine-month high.
