Poland: Retail sales drop in November

December 24, 2014

In November, retail sales dropped 0.2% over the same month last year. The decline contrasted both the 2.3% expansion tallied in October and the 2.0% rise that the markets had expected. November’s result, which marked the lowest reading since April 2013, reflected decreases in all of the sub-components that comprise the index except for sales of furniture, and newspapers and books.

As a result of November’s decline, annual average growth in retail sales edged down from 3.8% in October to 3.5% in November.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists see private consumption growing 2.6% in 2015, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2016, the panel sees private consumption expanding 3.0%.
