Poland: Growth in retail sales picks up in March

In March, retail sales rose 9.7% over the same month of 2016, which was an acceleration from February’s 7.3% expansion. Sales across all categories were robust, with the exception of the food category, where sales contracted in March.

The trend also improved in March, when annual average growth in retail sales climbed from February’s 4.9% to 5.6%, the highest reading in over four years.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists see private consumption growing 3.6% in 2017, which is up 0.2 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2018, the panel sees private consumption expanding 3.2%.
