Poland: Growth in retail sales gains momentum in June

July 25, 2016

In June, retail sales rose 4.6% over the same month last year, which was above May’s 2.2% increase and marked a six-month high. The reading overshot the 3.7% rise that markets analysts had expected. The acceleration was partly driven by higher sales almost across the board with sales of textiles, clothing and footwear growing notably.

Meanwhile, annual average growth in retail sales was stable at May’s 2.1%, the highest reading since January 2015.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists see private consumption growing 3.6% in 2016, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2017, the panel also sees private consumption expanding 3.6%.
