Poland: Inflation slows to a 15-month low in May

In May, consumer prices rose 0.2% over the previous month, which was below the 0.6% increase observed in April. According to the Central Statistical Office (GUS), the increase was mainly influenced by higher prices in the food as well as dwelling categories. Despite the monthly price increase, annual headline inflation fell from 4.0% in April to 3.6% in May, which was below market expectations that had inflation moderating to 3.8%. In fact, inflation edged down to the lowest level seen since February 2011 but remained above the Central Bank
