Poland: Industrial production slows in February
March 19, 2012
In February, industrial production expanded 4.6% over the same month last year, which nearly halved both the 9.0% increase observed in January and market expectations, which had industrial production rising 8.8%. The result mainly reflected a slowdown in manufacturing production as well as declining output in the mining and quarrying category. On a month-on-month basis, industrial production declined a seasonally adjusted 1.3% over the previous month, which contrasted the 0.4% rise seen in January. In addition, the trend continues to deteriorate, with annual average growth in industrial production falling from 6.9% in January to 6.4% in February.
