Poland: Industrial production rebounds strongly in July
August 20, 2012
In July, industrial production expanded 5.2% over the same month last year, which was above both the 1.2% increase tallied in June and market expectations, which had industrial production rising 4.0%. The result mainly reflected faster growth in manufacturing production as well as a rebound in electricity, gas and steam as well as in water supply and waste management. On a month-on-month basis, industrial production rose a seasonally adjusted 2.4% over the previous month, which contrasted the 1.9% decline seen in June. Moreover, the trend improved for the first time since February last year, with annual average growth in industrial production edging up from 5.2% in June to 5.5% in July.
