Poland: Industrial production rebounds in June
July 17, 2013
In June, industrial production rose 3.0% over the same month last year, which contrasted the 1.8% decrease tallied in May and exceeded market expectations of a 1.5% increase. The improvement mainly reflected a rebound in manufacturing as well as faster growth in water supply and waste management.
On a month-on-month basis, industrial production increased a seasonally adjusted 3.1%, which contrasted the 1.0% decline observed in May. That said, the trend remained virtually unchanged, with annual average growth in industrial production inching up from minus 0.6% in May to minus 0.5% in June.
FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panellists expect industrial production to increase 1.9% in 2013, which is down 0.3 percentage points from last month's forecast. For 2014, the panel expects industrial production growth to accelerate to 4.1%.
