Poland: Industrial production picks up in September
October 17, 2013
In September, industrial production rose 6.2% over the same month last year. The increase marked an acceleration from the 2.2% rise tallied in August but undershot market expectations of a 7.0% rise. The result reflected growth in the water supply and waste management sectors as well as in manufacturing.
On a month-on-month basis, industrial production increased a seasonally-adjusted 1.4%, which contrasted the 0.9% contraction observed in August. The overall trend improved, with annual average growth in industrial production rebounding from minus 0.2% in August to plus 0.7% in September.
FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to increase 2.0% in 2013, which is up 0.1 percentage points from last month's forecast. For 2014, the panel expects industrial production growth to accelerate to 4.0%, which is down 0.2 percentage points from last month's projection.
