Poland: Industrial production picks up in June

July 25, 2016

In June, industrial production rose 6.0% over the same month last year, which was above the 3.5% growth recorded in May. The acceleration reflected a pickup in manufacturing output and a less pronounced contraction in the mining and quarrying sector.

On a monthly basis, industrial production expanded 0.7% over the previous month in seasonally-adjusted terms, contrasting the 0.9% contraction recorded in May. Meanwhile, annual average growth in industrial production eased in June from May’s 4.6% to 4.5%.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to increase 4.4% in 2016, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2017, the panel expects growth in industrial production to increase 4.6%.
