Poland: Industrial production moderates in December

January 22, 2016

In December, industrial production expanded 6.7% over the same month last year, which was below the solid 7.8% increase tallied in November. December’s reading overshot the 5.6% rise the markets had expected. The acceleration reflected deteriorations in all categories but water supply and waste management. In particular, mining and quarrying contracted at the sharpest rate in 10 months.

On a month-on-month basis, industrial production increased 0.7% in December, which mirrored November’s rise. Annual average growth in industrial production inched down from November’s 5.0% to 4.8% in December.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to increase 5.4% in 2016, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2017, the panel expects growth in industrial production to increase 5.3%.
