Poland: Industrial production maintains momentum in March
April 17, 2014
In March, industrial production expanded 5.4% over the same month last year. The increase followed the 5.3% rise tallied in February, but came in below market expectations of a 6.4% increase. The result reflected a large expansion in manufacturing as well as growth in the water supply and waste management sector.
On a month-on-month basis, industrial production increased a seasonally-adjusted 0.2%, which contrasted the 0.9% decrease observed in February. The overall trend improved, with annual average growth in industrial production rising from 3.3% in February to 4.0% in March, which represents the highest level since August 2012.
FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to increase 4.6% in 2014, which is up 0.3 percentage points from last month's forecast. For 2015, the panel expects growth in industrial production to accelerate to 5.8%.
