Poland: Industrial production growth slows in December

January 19, 2017

In December, Polish industrial production expanded 2.3% over the same month of 2015, which was below the 3.3% increase recorded in November. The slowdown chiefly reflected a larger contraction in mining and quarrying production as well as slower growth in manufacturing. In addition, electricity, gas, and steam output fell at a steep pace.

For the full year 2016, industrial output expanded 3.0%, notably below 2015’s 6.7% growth.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to increase 3.3% in 2017, which is down 0.9 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2018, the panel expects growth in industrial production to be 4.3%.
