Poland: Industrial production gains pace in April
May 21, 2012
In April, industrial production expanded 2.9% over the same month last year, which was above the 0.8% increase observed in March and market expectations, which had industrial production rising 2.8%. The result mainly reflected an acceleration in manufacturing production and in particular in the manufacture of machinery and equipment. On a month-on-month basis, industrial production rose a seasonally adjusted 2.3% over the previous month, which contrasted the 2.0% decline seen in March. Despite the increase, the trend continues to deteriorate, with annual average growth in industrial production falling from 5.9% in March to 5.6% in April.
