Poland: Industrial production falls in February

In February, industrial production declined 2.1% over the same month last year, which contrasted the 0.3% increase tallied in January and was larger than the 1.6% decrease expected by the market. The deterioration mainly reflected a contraction in manufacturing as well as a decline in electricity, gas and steam.
On a month-on-month basis, industrial production fell a seasonally adjusted 1.0%, which contrasted the 1.5% increase tallied in January. Moreover, the trend deteriorated, with annual average growth in industrial production falling from 0.7% in January to 0.2% in February.
FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panellists expect industrial production to increase 2.2% in 2013, which is down 0.2 percentage points from last month's forecast. For 2014, the panel expects industrial production growth to accelerate to 4.6%.
