Poland: Industrial production decelerates in September

October 20, 2015

In September, industrial production expanded 4.1% over the same month last year, which was below the 5.3% increase tallied in August. However, September’s reading slightly overshot the 4.0% rise the markets had expected. The deceleration reflected deteriorations in both manufacturing and mining and quarrying. However, electricity, gas and steam grew at the fastest rate since December 2014.

On a month-on-month basis, industrial production decreased 1.2% in September, which followed August’s 1.3% fall. Annual average growth in industrial production remained stable at August’s 4.3% in September.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to increase 5.0% in 2015, which is down 0.2 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2016, the panel expects growth in industrial production to accelerate to 5.7%, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast.
