Poland: Industrial production decelerates in October

November 20, 2015

In October, industrial production expanded 2.4% over the same month last year, which was below the 4.1% increase tallied in September and marked a six-month low. October’s reading undershot the 3.2% rise the markets had expected. The deceleration partly reflected deteriorations in both manufacturing and electricity, gas and steam. However, mining and quarrying decreased at a softer rate.

On a month-on-month basis, industrial production increased 0.8% in October, which was below September’s 1.5% rise. Annual average growth in industrial production remained stable in October at September’s 4.3%.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to increase 4.8% in 2015, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2016, the panel expects growth in industrial production to accelerate to 5.4%, which is also unchanged from last month’s forecast.
