Poland: Industrial production accelerates significantly in June

July 20, 2015

In June, industrial production expanded 7.6% over the same month last year and came in significantly over the 2.8% increase tallied in May. June’s reading overshot the 6.6% rise the markets had expected and marked the fastest expansion in three months. The print largely reflected that an acceleration in manufacturing more than offset a deterioration in electricity, gas and steam as well as in mining and quarrying.

On a month-on-month basis, industrial production increased 0.5% in June, slowing down from May’s 0.9% increase. As a result of June’s acceleration, annual average growth in industrial production inched up from 3.1% in May to 3.6% in June.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to increase 5.2% in 2015, which is up 0.3 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2016, the panel expects growth in industrial production to accelerate to 5.4%.
