Poland: Industrial production accelerates in December

In December, industrial production rose 6.6% over the same month of the previous year. The increase marked an acceleration over the 2.9% rise tallied in November, but came in below market expectations of a 10.4% increase. The result reflected growth in mining and quarrying, in manufacturing and in the water supply and waste management sector. On a month-on-month basis, industrial production increased a seasonally-adjusted 0.4%, which contrasted the 0.3% decrease observed in November. The overall trend was up, with annual average growth in industrial production rising from 1.0% in November to 2.3% in December. FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to increase 4.6% in 2014, which is up 0.3 percentage points from last month's forecast. For 2015, the panel expects growth in industrial production to accelerate to 5.8%.
