Poland: Industrial production accelerates in August

September 18, 2015

In August, industrial production expanded 5.3% over the same month last year, which was above the 3.8% increase tallied in July. However, August’s reading undershot the 6.1% rise the markets had expected. The acceleration reflected improvements in all sectors over the previous month, with both mining and quarrying as well as electricity, gas and steam rebounding from contractions.

On a month-on-month basis, industrial production decreased 1.3% in August, contrasting July’s flat growth and marking a four-month low. Annual average growth in industrial production rise from 3.7% in July to 4.3% in August.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to increase 5.3% in 2015, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2016, the panel expects growth in industrial production to accelerate to 5.8%.
