Poland: Industrial output contracts in April

In April, industrial production swung to a 0.6% contraction from the same month last year, which marked a substantial decline compared to March’s 11.1% expansion. While the mining and quarrying sub-component was hardest hit, the manufacturing sub-component also recorded a contraction. The other sub-components remained broadly stable.

Annual average industrial output was 3.4% in April, below 4.0% in March.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production growth to increase 4.6% in 2017, which is up 0.1 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2018, the panel expects industrial production growth to remain stable at 4.6%.
