Poland: Growth inches up in Q2

August 12, 2016

Poland’s economy picked up slightly in the second quarter, according to a preliminary flash estimate released by the Central Statistical Office of Poland. The economy grew 3.1% over the same period last year in Q2, which was a notch above the 3.0% expansion tallied in Q1. The result was slightly below FocusEconomics analysts’ expectations of a 3.2% increase.

On a seasonally adjusted quarterly basis, the economy rebounded from a 0.1% contraction in Q1 to a 0.9% expansion in Q2. More detailed data including a breakdown of GDP components will be released on 30 August.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect that the economy will expand 3.3% in 2016, which is down 0.2 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2017, panelists also foresee the economy growing 3.3%.
