Poland: Business confidence rises in August

August 24, 2016

The manufacturing sector business climate index increased from 3.1 points in July to 4.8 points in August, according to the Central Statistical Office’s Business Tendency Survey (GUS-BTS). Business confidence has remained above the zero-point threshold that separates optimism from pessimism since December.

August’s increase came on the back of a sharp rise in sentiment regarding the general economic situation. In addition, firms were more optimistic regarding the future economic situation, but they were less optimistic regarding their future financial situations and employment prospects.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect fixed investment to expand 1.9% in 2016, which is down 1.0 percentage points from last month’s estimate. For 2017, the panel sees fixed investment expanding 4.4%.
