Poland: Business confidence rebounds at the beginning of 2013

January 25, 2013

According to the Central Statistical Office's Business Tendency Survey (GUS-BTS), the general business climate index rose to minus 8.9 points in January. The figure was up from the minus 14.3 points seen in December, which had represented the lowest level observed in nearly four years. Despite the increase, the index remains below the zero-point threshold that separates pessimism from optimism for the seventh month in a row. Moreover, at the current level, business confidence is now 3.8 points below the level observed in the same period last year.

In general, businesses were mostly pessimistic about their order books as well as regarding current production levels.
