Poland: Business confidence picks up further in February

February 23, 2016

The manufacturing sector business climate index picked up from 0.8 points in January to 3.0 points in February, according to the Central Statistical Office’s Business Tendency Survey (GUS-BTS). As a result, business confidence moved further above the zero-point threshold that separates optimism from pessimism.

January’s increase reflected improvements in a majority of the categories comprising the index. The largest increases were recorded in expected foreign orders and expected production.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect fixed investment to expand 7.5% in 2016, which is up 0.1 percentage points from last month’s estimate. For 2017, the panel sees fixed investment expanding 6.2%.
