Poland: Business confidence moderates in June

June 26, 2017

In June, the manufacturing sector business climate index decreased to 7.5 points from 8.1 points in May, according to the Business Tendency Survey released by the Central Statistical Office (GUS-BTS). Despite the drop, business confidence remains firmly above the zero-point mark that separates optimism from pessimism.

While businesses were slightly more or equally confident about the current state of the economy, they painted a bleaker picture for the coming months. Firms were less upbeat about the development of the economy as a whole and consequentially reduced their expectations of production level, new orders and were also less optimistic about the financial situation.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect fixed investment to grow 4.6% in 2017, which is up 0.9 percentage points from last month’s estimate. For 2018, the panel sees fixed investment expanding 5.6%.
