Poland: Business confidence falls in July

July 24, 2015

The manufacturing sector business climate index fell from 6.1 points in June to 5.8 points in July, according to the Central Statistical Office’s Business Tendency Survey (GUS-BTS). Nevertheless, business confidence remains comfortably above the zero-point threshold that separates optimism from pessimism.

July’s moderation reflected a decrease in six of the nine sub-categories that comprise the index. The largest decreases were recorded in current general economic situation and future financial situation. Conversely, firms’ expectations regarding the current financial situation as well as domestic and foreign order-books improved.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect fixed investment to expand 6.4% in 2015, which is up 0.2 percentage points from last month’s estimate. For 2016, the panel sees fixed investment expanding 5.8%.
