Poland: Business confidence eases in June

June 27, 2022

Business confidence came in at minus 13.0 in June, down from May's minus 9.6. As a result, the index remained entrenched below the 0-threshold, indicating pessimism among businesses.

June’s deterioration was attributed to firms’ turning more pessimistic regarding the current economic situation, while their appraisal of current orderbooks and production grew more downbeat. With regards to expectations, businesses turned more negative over future production, while expectations over orderbooks and employment were more pessimistic compared to the prior month. Moreover, expectations for the future general economic situation worsened.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect fixed investment to expand 6.3% in 2022, which is up 0.1 percentage points from last month’s estimate. For 2023, the panel sees fixed investment growth at 5.9%.
