Poland: Business confidence decreases in September

September 22, 2015

The manufacturing sector business climate index decreased from 7.1 points in August to 3.2 points in September, which represented an eight-month low, according to the Central Statistical Office’s Business Tendency Survey (GUS-BTS). Despite the fall, business confidence rests above the zero-point threshold that separates optimism from pessimism.

September’s increase reflected deteriorations in all of the nine sub-categories that comprise the index, except for unemployment, which remained at the same level. In particular, the largest deteriorations were recorded in current and expected domestic and foreign order books.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect fixed investment to expand 7.5% in 2015, which is up 0.1 percentage points from last month’s estimate. For 2016, the panel sees fixed investment expanding 6.2%.
