Poland: Business confidence continues to rally in February

February 23, 2017

The manufacturing sector business climate index rose from 2.7 points in January to 4.5 points in February, according to the Central Statistical Office’s Business Tendency Survey (GUS-BTS). February’s positive reading improved on January’s rebound, after sentiment dipped to a three-year low at the end of 2016. Business confidence rose to a six-month high in February, and remains firmly above the zero-point threshold that separates optimism from pessimism.

February’s rise came on the back of a marked improvement in sentiment towards the future general economic situation and the outlook for firms’ production, as well as expected growth in both domestic and foreign order books.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect fixed investment to grow 2.7% in 2017, which is down 0.2 percentage points from last month’s estimate. For 2018, the panel sees fixed investment expanding 4.9%.
