Peru: Economic activity shoots up in May
July 14, 2017
Economic activity expanded 3.4% over the same month last year in May, the second highest pace of expansion this year and marked a substantial acceleration from April’s 0.2% rise.
The notable result was underpinned by a double-digit expansion in manufacturing output together with growth in the fishing, telecommunications, transport and messaging, and commerce sectors.
Nevertheless, the significant gains seen this month were not enough to pull up the annual average variation in economic activity, which slid to 2.9% in May from 3.1% in April.
