Peru: Businesses optimism continues into January
February 15, 2014
In January, businesses confidence remained at December's 59 points according to the Central Bank's business confidence indicator. This marks the fifth consecutive month in which the indicator is above the 50-point threshold that separates optimism from pessimism.
Expectations for demand conditions in the next three months as well as for sector expectations for the next three months improved in January. Businesses were slightly more pessimistic about their current situation, however, as sentiment regarding current sales, inventories and purchase orders deteriorated with respect to the previous month.
FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect fixed investment to grow 6.9% this year, which is down 0.4 percentage points from last month's forecast. For 2015, panel participants see investment growing 7.6%.
