Peru: Businesses more optimistic in October
November 11, 2013
Businesses confidence improved in October according to the Central Bank's business confidence indicator. The index rose to 55 points, up from the 53 points tallied in September. This is the second consecutive month in which the indicator is above the 50-point threshold that separates optimism from pessimism.
All but one sub-component of the index increased; businesses' expectations for future inventories declined. The largest improvement was registered in businesses' expectations regarding demand conditions in the next three months.
FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect fixed investment to grow 9.1% this year, which is down 0.4 percentage points from last month's forecast. For 2014, panel participants see investment growing 8.0%, which is down 0.8 percentage points from last month's estimate.
