Peru: Business sentiment stabilizes in December
January 14, 2013
In December, the business confidence indicator (Indice de Confianza Empresarial), included in the Central Bank's survey of macroeconomic expectations, remained stable at 64 points for the second consecutive month. As a result, the index remained above the 50-point threshold that separates optimism from pessimism for the 18th consecutive month.
The sub-gauge of sales for the next three months remained unchanged compared to the previous month, while the sub-indicator for overall demand prospects for the next three months dropped a notch in December. On the other hand, businesses' assessment of their own financial situation as well as regarding their access to credit improved over the previous month.
