Peru: Business confidence rises to 25-month high
February 8, 2013
In January, the business confidence indicator (Indice de Confianza Empresarial), included in the Central Bank's survey of macroeconomic expectations, rose to 67 points from 64 points in December. As a result the index climbed to its highest level since December 2010 and remained above the 50-point threshold that separates optimism from pessimism for the 19th consecutive month.
The monthly reading reflected firms' better prospects for sales as well as for overall demand in the next three months. On the other hand, businesses' assessment of their own financial situation as well as regarding their access to credit dropped slightly compared to the previous month.
