Peru: Business confidence notably improves in October
November 22, 2011
In October, the Central Bank's business confidence indicator (indice de Confianza Empresarial) climbed to 58 points from 53 points in September. The improvement pushed confidence to the highest level since March and further above the 50-point threshold that separates optimism from pessimism. The reading suggested that a majority of businesses were optimistic about future economic prospects for the next three months. The October survey showed improvements in all main sub-categories. Firms' sales expectations for the next three months improved and businesses continue to enjoy a healthy financial situation with easy access to credit. Moreover, a majority of businesses are planning to increase their staff in the next three months.
