Peru Business Confidence October 2017

Peru: Business confidence improves further in October

November 10, 2017

The business confidence indicator rose to an over four-year high of 64.1 in October, up from 60.1 in September, which is further above the 50-point threshold that separates optimism from pessimism, indicating that businesses grew more optimistic in October.

Driving the upturn in business sentiment was firms’ more favorable assessment of their current business situation and demand level. Moreover, firms were more optimistic about the economic situation in the next three and twelve months, and their expectations about their specific sector in the next three months also improved.

Panelists expect fixed investment to contract 4.9% in 2018, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2019, panel participants see investment growing 3.8%.
