Peru: Business confidence drops into pessimistic territory in June
July 4, 2014
Business confidence fell to 49.7 points in June according to the Central Bank’s business confidence indicator. The result marked a significant deterioration over the 52.9 points registered in May. Business confidence has not been this low since August 2013.
Businesses’ perceptions across most areas of the index declined in June. They were notably more pessimistic regarding their current financial situations as well as sales compared to the previous month. Moreover, expectations for demand and overall sector performance in the coming months also declined. Nonetheless, firms’ outlook on hiring personnel in the next three months were stable.
