Panama: Business confidence slips in January
February 22, 2011
In January, the business confidence indicator (indice de Confianza Empresarial) published by the Central Bank fell to 66 points from 68 points in December. The decline saw business confidence fall to its lowest level since October 2009. Despite the drop, business confidence remains above the 50-point threshold that separates optimism from pessimism, where it has sat since May 2009, suggesting that a majority of respondents remain optimistic about economic prospects for the next three months.
